You can soften
ear
wax by putting a few drops of baby oil, mineral oil, glycerin, hydrogen peroxide, or over-the-counter wax softening drops such as debrox or murine into the affected ear canal.
That may be enough to get the wax to come out. After you’ve tried a wax softener for a few days, use a bulb-type syringe to gently flush the ear with warm water. The water should be at body temperature to help prevent dizziness. You can buy over-the-counter kits that combine softening drops with an irrigation system. Your doctor can explain which one might work for you and how to use it.

Ears blocked with wax can cause hearing loss, discomfort and tinnitus. There are 3 approved ways to remove earwax, syringing (water irrigation), micro suction and manual removal. Syringing or water irrigation is the most regularly used method; warm water is pumped around the ear canal to release and remove the earwax blockage. Microsuction – where a special suction device is used to remove the earwax under a microscope. The procedure is quick, safe and painless, and it doesn’t involve putting liquid into your ear.
You can normally use a soft washcloth or facial tissue to remove earwax that has come out of the ear, for instance after washing or having a shower. There are different ways to remove larger amounts of earwax from the outer ear canal, or to remove hard plugs of earwax: before having your ear rinsed by the doctor, you can try out cerumenolytics at home first. If they don't get rid of the earwax, they can still help to prepare the ear to be rinsed out by a doctor (irrigation). Irrigation isn't always suitable – particularly in people who have a damaged eardrum or a middle ear infection.
Build up of wax in the ear? we now offer micro suction earwax removal service. It's a procedure where a trained clinician removes ear wax using a compact suction device while looking into your ear. They’ll look into the ear with a binocular head-piece which offers a clear view of the ear canal, making it easier to get rid of the ear wax with low-pressure suction. This treatment has become increasingly popular over the years as it is safe and pain-free for the patient. Many people also find it a lot more comfortable than ear syringing.
